Haiku Talk at July 8th NBLUG meeting
During the recent LugRadio Live USA 2008 event held in San Francisco, where Scott McCreary and I organized a Haiku booth (see report here), Scott introduced me to Kyle Rankin of the North Bay Linux User Group (NBLUG). During our chat with with Kyle, we discussed the possibility of holding a Haiku talk at one of their monthly NBLUG meetings (which are held at the O'Reilly headquarters in Sebastopol, Marin County), and today we were invited to do it on Tuesday July 8th. I am making this post to both inform those interested in attending (place and time details will follow at a later date), and to invite feedback as to the content and format of what we want to present. Here are my initial thoughts.
LugRadio Live 2008 in San Francisco
Haiku is scheduled to exhibit at LugRadio Live USA 2008, the first LugRadio Live event to be held in the US. This is an event originally from the UK that has developed a strong reputation for providing a range of topics about free software, Open Source, digital rights, technology and more, a compelling list of speakers, exhibitors and birds of a feather sessions, and wrapping it all in a unique, fun, loose, social and inclusive event, which is often described as combining the atmosphere of a rock concert and a computer conference.

Announcement Distribution List
In order to maximize the reach of our announcements for meetings and/or other events that we organize, I am starting here a distribution list meant to include local UG mailing lists, social network communities and any other channels that may be appropriate for posting such announcements.
GSoC 2007 Haiku Mentor Appreciation Day
Haiku developers Stephan "Stippi" Assmus, Ryan Leavengood and Oliver Ruiz Dorantes will be in the San Francisco Bay Area attending the Google Summer of Code 2007 Mentor Summit, so we are taking this opportunity to give them a warm welcome by organizing a GSoC 2007 Haiku Mentor Appreciation Day as a small token of appreciation for their work during GSoC 2007.
